The 1870 Society Announces Columbus Sports Radio Manager as President

The 1870 Society is proud to announce the hiring of Buckeye alum and Ohio native Todd Markiewicz as its new President.

As President of the NIL Collective, Markiewicz will work to drive fans and Ohio businesses to donate and partner with Ohio State student-athletes to bring a more competitive edge in the NIL space.

“It’s time for fans, alumni, and the Columbus business community to get off the sideline and into the game. My goal as the President of The 1870 Society is to create an NIL Collective that is institutional and built to benefit student-athletes at Ohio State for years to come,” said Markiewicz. “I’m ready to help educate the Ohio State fanbase to remove some of the mystery and perceived obstacles surrounding the NIL space. We need to drive more success to NIL in order to ensure our Ohio State teams stay elite on their respective fields of play.”

The 1870 Society is an NIL Collective that will offer membership tiers to both individuals and businesses. These tiers come with their own set of exclusive benefits and perks including helmet stickers, autographed items, priority access/tickets, and even more exclusive content.

Markiewicz will assume the role on June 1, 2023.

“We are excited for Todd to jump on board soon and continue to get the ball rolling for this exciting opportunity for Ohio State athletics,” said Mark Stetson, a Founding Partner of The 1870 Society. “The 1870 Society is just what the Buckeyes need to stay competitive in the NIL field across the country. With Todd’s Central Ohio sports background, we know he will be the best to accelerate fundraising and get Buckeye Nation to jump in.”

In May, Markiewicz will leave his role as the Vice President and Station Manager for TEGNA at 97.1 The Fan and Station Manager/Director of Sales for RadiOhio at 97.1 The Fan, a role he has held since January 2010.

He was formerly a General Sales Manager at Cox Radio Station WHTQ in Orlando, FL, and Clear Channel Radio Stations WRFX and WEND in Charlotte, NC.

Markiewicz is an Ohio State and Xavier University alum and currently resides in Dublin, OH with his wife.
